Hmm, just got my dad out of hospital yesterday. He was there for two weeks after undergoing CABG and RF maze procedures. CABG Coronary Artery Bypass Graft surgery is the formal term for heart bypass surgery. The cardio doctor in CGH discovered three blockages and promptly sent him to NHC to arrange for the CABG surgery.
The doctor (Dr Chua Yeow Leng) at NHC also found out that he has Atrial Fibrillation and recommended the RF maze procedure too. we were quite apprehensive about the RF maze procedure as it involves opening the heart to insert some RF device to interrput the heart's electronic signal in order to regulate the heart beat. Sounds scary, however, Dr Chua managed to convince my dad. In the end he authorised the procedure too.
That was two weeks ago and now dad is on his way to recovery. Yeh! Oh, when Dr Chua open him up, they found four blockage instead of three. It is amazing to me how my dad have gone on with his life for the past 10 years with four blockages. Good karma I supposed. My mum kept saying that it is his good karma that kept nothing major from happening to him, whatever :)
Some useful information i have found in researching for dad's condition.
